Gender Neutral Laws: In the Rajya Sabha, BJP MP Dr. Dinesh Sharma appreciated the legal reforms made on domestic violence and exploitation against women and said that now it is necessary to ensure equal security rights for men as well. He stressed that the law needs to be improved to protect men from domestic violence and oppression. Dr. Sharma demanded that laws related to domestic violence be made gender neutral so that everyone can get equal justice and no gender person has to face injustice.

According to data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), 72% of those who committed suicide in 2022 were more than 1,25,000. At the same time, the number of suicides of women was about 47,000. These figures show that the percentage of men in suicide cases is very high, especially due to family problems. This makes it clear that there is a need to pay special attention to mental health and legal safety for men.

Increasing number of men trapped in false charges

Recently, a tragic case in Bengaluru has made the issue even more serious, in which a person named Atul Subhash had alleged that his wife had implicated him in false charges, causing him to suffer mental harassment and He eventually committed suicide. This incident showed that men face a huge shortage of legal and emotional support due to false allegations. The misuse of provisions like Section 85 of the Indian Code of Justice Code further increases this problem.

Domestic violence law should make gender neutral – Dr. Dinesh Sharma

In this context, Dr. Dinesh Sharma appealed to the government to make the laws related to domestic violence and harassment gender neutral. He said that if a person gives his life due to any flaw in the law, then it is a time of introspection for the society. He also said that strict action should be taken against those who make false allegations so that the fairness of the judicial system remains.
