Waqf amendment bill: During the discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha, BJP MP Brij Lal questioned its provisions so far on Thursday (April 3, 2025). During this, he targeted the UPA government and told how the Waqf Board used to take property in different places of the country. During this, he also mentioned him of Taj Mahal and Badrinath.
‘Haryana’s land claimed’
BJP MP Brij Lal Giving the example of misuse of section 40 of the Waqf Act, he said, “The vaakf that is present so far, only the aristocratic class of Muslims is supremacy. It has Sheikh, Syed, Siddiqui, Pathan, Mirza. There was no role of poor Muslims and Pasmanda Muslims in this. All the schemes of our government focuses on the poor. In 2022, the Waqf Board staked claim on the land of Haryana. An attempt was made to grab an old gurudwara there. There was no Muslim settlement there. “
‘This is not Badrinath … Badruddin Shah’
Rajya Sabha MP Brij Lal said, “A Maulana was saying in 2017 that it is not Badrinath … It is not a Vishnu temple, he is Badruddin Shah. He is asked to hand over the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand to hand over it and if he does not, he will capture it. A case was filed in Dehradun.”
Taj Mahal was also described as Waqf property
BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Brij Lal said, “In the year 2021, Waqf said that the property of Surat Munchai Corporation is of Waqf. It was said that 400 years ago, Shah Jahan had waqf. She gave her daughter to Ara. I have been the SSP and DIG of Agra. And the leader said that make me Mutavalli, the Taj Mahal is a Waqf property, but it could not be done.
BJP MP mentioned Gyanvapi
After this, BJP MP Brij Lal mentioned Gyanvapi. He said, “Everyone knows that on 9 April 1969, Aurangzeb had issued the command, under which Kashi Vishwanath Temple was broken. The Keshav Dev Temple in Mathura was broken in January 1670. There is also Uttar Pradesh Sunni Waqf Board claimed that where Gyanvapi is present, it is the land of Waqf.
BJP Sasand said, “The Gujarat Waqf Board put petition in the High Court, stating that the two islands of Bet Dwarka are the property of Waqf.
