Adr on political party donations: The country’s largest political party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has received the highest amount of more than Rs 2 thousand 243 crore in FY 2023-24. The big thing is that this donation is more in national political parties. Election -related organization ‘Association for Democratic Reforms’ (ADR) has given information about this in its report.
This report is based on the data submitted to the Election Commission. In these figures, information about political donations of more than 20 thousand rupees has been given. The total amount declared by national parties is Rs 2 thousand 544.28 crore, which has been received from 12 thousand 547 donors. This figure is 199 percent higher than last year.
Congress is far below BJP
The total share of BJP’s declared donation alone is 88 percent. The Congress finished second with donations of Rs 281.48 crore with donations of 1,994, which is far below BJP. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the National People’s Party (NPEP) gave information about the low amount, while the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) once again announced zero donation above the range of Rs 20,000, which has been in line with the data filed for the last 18 years.
The donations to the BJP increased from Rs 719.858 crore in FY 2022-23 to Rs 2,243.94 crore in FY 2023-24, which shows an increase of 211.72 percent.
Increase in the donation of Congress
The report said that similarly, the donation to the Congress increased from Rs 79.924 crore in the financial year 2022-23 to Rs 281.48 crore in FY 2023-24, which shows an increase of 252.18 percent.
