President Draupadi Murmu has nominated four prestigious members for the Rajya Sabha. These include senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam, former Foreign Secretary Harshvardhan Shringla, eminent historian Dr. Meenakshi Jain and Kerala social worker C. Sadanandan Master. Article 80 of the Indian Constitution can have a maximum of 250 members in the Rajya Sabha (the Upper House of Parliament). Of these, 238 members are elected from states and union territories, while 12 members are nominated by the President. This enrollment is of those people who have contributed unique in the fields of literature, science, art or social service.

Harshvardhan Shringla is a retired diplomat of the Indian Foreign Service, who played a role as the chief coordinator of India’s G20 in 2023. Prior to this, he has held important positions such as the Foreign Secretary of India, the Ambassador of India in the US, the High Commissioner in Bangladesh and the Ambassador of India in Thailand.
