An FIR has been registered against a social media influencer in Meghalaya for raising slogans of Jai Shri Ram in a church. The matter came to light when he and his two companions raised religious slogans in the church and their video went viral. The name of the influencer is Akash Sagar. She posted this video on her Instagram account, where she has more than 1.5 million followers.

The video shows Akash entering the Church of the Epiphany in Mawlynnong, located in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. The complaint states that Akash insulted the sanctity of the church and raised slogans like ‘Jai Shri Ram’. In the video, Akash and his companions go to the altar of the church and raise slogans and sing Christian hymns in turns.

An activist from Shillong lodged a complaint at Laitumkhara police station. He described this incident as a deliberate and premeditated conspiracy. Activists alleged that the act was aimed at insulting Christianity and spreading communal tension in this region of religious harmony.

Following the complaint, Meghalaya Police registered an FIR against Akash Sagar and his associates. He has been accused of illegal entry, disturbing public peace and hurting religious sentiments.
