BJP national spokesperson Zafar Islam counted the achievements of the central government during a press conference on Tuesday (August 19, 2025). At the same time, he also put the policies of the former Congress government in the dock. He said that before 2014, the economy of the country had collapsed under the Congress rule, but after 2014 the country’s economy has strengthened and the whole world is running fast.
Zafar Islam said, ‘The kind of policies that have been adopted by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi since 2014, today I can proudly say that the country’s economy has not only strengthened, but is running fast. All the institutions and economists of the whole world are also coming only positive signals about India’s economy.

He further said, ‘When people say’ India is Shining Star ‘, the Congress hurts, because in 2004, when we handed them the economy of the country, the economy of the country was in a very good condition, but in 2014, when he handed over the same economy to us, all the micro economy parameters (micro economic norms) were in a very poor state.’
Referring to the world’s economic condition, Zafar Islam said, “At a time when the world is struggling with economic turmoil and pricing challenges, international rating agencies have a positive attitude towards India’s economy. This change has been possible due to the policy measures and reforms of the government.
World struggling with inflation challenge
Zafar Islam said that in the global scenario, inflation in America and UK is much more than us. Today the whole world is struggling with the challenge of inflation, but it is under control in India. The Congress often discussed food inflation, but I want to tell them that today the food inflation in India is -1.6%, that is, the prices of food items have decreased.
He said, ‘People are worried about tariffs, but India is included in countries where it will have the lowest impact, because our domestic consumption is strong. Our GDP is expected to further boost further in GST and other tax measures launched by the government. International agencies have also accepted this flexibility. Due to the policy measures of the Modi government, our country will be mostly unaffected.
‘Congress destroyed the country’
Zafar Islam said, ‘Prime Minister Modi thinks about the people of the country and the Congress party thinks about the family. The Congress annihilated the country and left the country in a crumbling condition, but today the country is strong, the economy of the country is strong and the countrymen feel proud. We are walking with the resolve of developed India.
I thank the people of my country for choosing a stable and strong government three times in a row. Countries like Indonesia, Malaysia depend on export, but we do not make much difference from it. Our economy has reached 4 places from 11th place. Our economy is constantly increasing. We have created more than 17.5 crore jobs, which is more than the UPA government.
