The attack was carried out on charges of broadcasting wrong news against BRS leader KTR in the phone tapping case. The attackers broke the office windows, furniture and studios. Along with this, vehicles parked outside in the office were also damaged. According to some reports, the staff of the channel trying to intervene was also attacked.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister responds to the incident

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reacted sharply. He said that there is no place for such violence in democracy and attack on media institutions is a serious crime. He said, “Trying to suppress the freedom of media through threats and violence is a big setback for democracy.” He also expressed solidarity with the management of Maha News, employees and journalists.

Violent attack on media is not acceptable at all- Pawan Kalyan

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also reacted to the incident and said that if there is an objection to any media news, it should be raised in legal and democratic ways. He said, “It is absolutely unacceptable to make violent attacks directly. It is against the spirit of democracy and an attempt to suppress the voice of the media.” He demanded the government to take immediate action in this matter and take strict steps against the culprits.
