Jagadguru Rambhadracharya, the famous Ramakatha reader and awarded Padma Vibhushan, has questioned the step of the Uttar Pradesh government to take the Thakur Banke Bihari temple of Vrindavan under his control. He has said that if such a step cannot be taken against mosques and churches, then temples should avoid it.
In response to questions asked on the state government’s plan to build a trust for the temple and develop Banke Bihari Corridor, he expressed strong disagreement. Rambhadracharya said- “I do not agree with the government’s decision to build a trust for the temple.”

He further said, “I do not understand why the government wants to take temples under its control and why they want to seize their money, while it cannot acquire a mosque or church.”
It is known that the Uttar Pradesh government has described the need for better facilities for millions of devotees coming to the temple as the reason for the establishment of the trust and the construction of the corridor.
