Postal department corruption: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three officers posted in the head post office of Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh for taking bribe. The accused include a sub -divisional inspector (SDI), an overseer and a postal assistant. These officers are accused of taking a bribe of Rs 7,500 from a person.
The CBI had registered a case in this case on Tuesday (February 4). According to the complainant, SDI and overseer sought him a bribe in lieu of appointment to the post of Assistant Branch Post Master in Rasulpur Nandlal Branch under Gramin Dak SEVA of the Indian Postal Department. Initially, the accused had demanded Rs 25,000, but later the amount was reduced to Rs 10,000 after talks.
CBI caught red handed taking bribe
The CBI conducted a thorough investigation into the case and caught the accused red handed. On Tuesday, February 4, the CBI team caught the postal assistant taking Rs 7,500 for bribe. This amount was being taken to reach SDI and Overseer. The CBI immediately arrested the accused and took strict action against them.
Accused will be presented in court
The three accused arrested have been presented by the CBI in the Special CBI court (Anti Corruption Court No-2) in Lucknow. The investigation of the case is still going on and the CBI has said that the investigation will also see if other people are involved in this corruption.
Strict eye on corruption in postal department
This is not the first time that corruption cases have been reported in the postal department. There have been many complaints in rural postal services that appointment or promotion is not available without bribe. However, CBI and other agencies have been continuously taking action on these matters and will keep strict monitoring on such cases in future also.
