CBI News: CBI has registered an FIR against one of its Deputy Superintendents of Police and others on charges of corruption and receiving undue benefits. This action was taken under the zero tolerance policy of CBI towards corruption. It has been alleged in the FIR that the concerned officer took undue advantage from the persons who came under the purview of his investigation. To transact the bribe amount, the accused used the services of middlemen through accounts and hawala channel.

CBI launched an intensive search operation in the corruption case, for which raids were conducted in different cities of the country. During this period, raids were conducted on a total of 20 premises located in Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi.

What was recovered?
During the raid, CBI found cash of Rs 55 lakh sent through Hawala channel, property documents related to investments worth about Rs 1.78 crore, book entry records related to transactions worth Rs 1.63 crore and other incriminating documents and materials. At the same time, CBI said that further investigation is going on in the case and the role of other suspects is also being investigated.

The screws have already been tightened on officials
This is not the first time that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has investigated people associated with its own branch. Earlier in 2021, the CBI team had conducted searches at its headquarters in New Delhi. The case was of taking bribe from a bank fraud accused, in which two DSPs were also involved. During that time CBI had raided many places including Delhi, Ghaziabad. CBI had registered a case against the officers in a case of misuse of office and corruption.
