The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is preparing to make major changes in its examination system. CBSE has decided that the board examination for class 10th from 2026 will be conducted twice a year. If a student becomes ill or for some reason, his exam is missed, then he can take the exam again. Soon its draft will be released, on which suggestions will be sought from people.
Report will be released on next Monday
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently held a meeting with CBSE officials and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). The proposed changes were fully reviewed and according to the report, it will be made public on next Monday.
The report quoted an officer as saying, “Through giving an opportunity for many attempts, CBSE is trying to create an education environment that emphasizes children’s thinking ability and understanding rather than remembering” . Apart from this, according to the Times of India report, CBSE 2026-27 will also launch a global course for its 260 foreign schools from the academic year. CBSE is also investing in teacher training to bring comfortable changes in this new assessment model.
Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while highlighting the importance of these reforms, said that these are necessary steps towards creating a stress -free teaching environment. He said, “Examination reform and change is an important step in this direction. This improvement will help reduce the examination related stress and ensure a balanced assessment system”.
Guidelines issued for schools
CBSE has issued strict guidelines for schools reacting to board examinations of class 10 and 12. Schools will have to upload feedback on OECMS portal on the day of examination. The delayed reactions will not be considered and the CBSE has instructed schools to email Qpobservation@cbseshiksha.in for additional questions.
CBSE has issued an advice, cautioning the students and other concerned parties with the wrong information related to the paper leaks and irregularities in the examination. The board has appealed everyone to believe in official communication only. Let us know that this year, more than 42 lakh students are appearing in CBSE board examinations at 7,842 centers in India and abroad.
