Under the new rules, the complete record of Waqf properties across the country will be available on a centralized digital portal.
The Central Government has notified (notified) Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Rules, 2025. These rules are related to the portal and database of Waqf properties, their registration, audit and maintenance of accounts.
A centralized portal and database have been created under the new rules, which will record a complete record of Waqf across the country. This includes uploading list of Waqf properties, new registration, maintenance of Waqf register, giving information of accounts, publishing audit reports and filing board orders.
The manager of the Waqf property (Mutavalli) will login to the portal by login from OTP through his mobile number and email. After this, the details of Waqf and his property will be uploaded.
The new Waqf property will have to be registered in Form 4 on the portal within three months of formation. The Waqf Board will maintain the register of Waqf in Form 5 on the portal. The new rules have been made under the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025, which came into force from 8 April 2025.
The government issued a new notify on the Waqf law on Thursday.
The responsibility of governments fixed in new rules Joint Secretary in charge of Waqf Division in the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs will monitor and control this portal and database. The state will have to appoint Joint Secretary level nodal officer. The Centralized Support Unit will be formed with the advice of the Center.
The portal will have real-time monitoring facilities. Due to which registration, information of assets, governance, court cases, dispute settlement, financial monitoring and management of resources will be able to be done. Also, information related to survey and development will also be involved in it.
The state government will upload the list and details of Waqf on the portal within 90 days. There will be an additional time of 90 days when the delay, but the reason for the delay will have to be given.
The President approved the Waqf law on 5 April
The Waqf Amendment Bill (now Law) passed on April 2 after a discussion of 12-12 hours in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha on 3 April. After this, President Draupadi Murmu approved the bill late on 5 April. The government implemented the Waqf Amendment Act across the country from 8 April.
