Aac and jkim ban: The Central Government has imposed a five-year ban on Jammu and Kashmir Itihadul Muslimeen (JKIM) led by Mirwaiz Omar Farooq led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) Act (UAPA), 1967. The Ministry of Home Affairs described the danger for national security, sovereignty and integrity behind the ban.

The government says that AAC and JKIM members were involved in supporting terrorism, promoting anti-India propaganda and raising funds for separatist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. These organizations have also been accused of inciting violence, encouraging armed resistance and spreading dissatisfaction.

Case filed against other members of AAC

In Srinagar, cases have been filed against Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other members of AAC in Srinagar’s Nauhatta, Safakdal and Kothi Bagh police stations. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also filed a charge sheet against AAC spokesperson Aftab Ahmed Shah and others for involvement in anti-national activities.

Opposition criticized the verdict
This decision of the central government was strongly criticized by opposing parties and Kashmiri leaders. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti condemned the ban, saying, “Pressing disagreement will increase tension.” He said that the government should protect democratic values ​​and fundamental rights, not to ban political organizations. Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also described the government’s decision as “trying to suppress the voice of Kashmir”. He said that AAC has been a non -violent and democratic organization, which has always supported a peaceful solution.

Government warning
The Ministry of Home Affairs clarified that if the activities of these organizations are not banned, it will continue to efforts to challenge public unrest in Jammu and Kashmir and India’s sovereignty. In fact, this step of the central government is being considered part of the broader action against separatist organizations and terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
