It seems that Chirag Paswan’s flame is once again going to set fire to someone’s house in Bihar elections than showing light to LJP (R). His recent power was seen in ‘Bahujan Bhima Sankalp Samagam’ held in Nalanda. His activism has created a stir in the politics of Bihar. The suspense in his statements is such that it is not understood that he is attacking the Grand Alliance or putting pressure on the NDA itself.
In fact, before Bihar assembly elections 2025, Chirag’s strategy and steps taken by them are creating complex political equations for alliances. It is obvious that he is emerging as a serious challenge for both the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Grand Alliance. It remains to be understood whether anyone else has a role in this game of Chirag or they themselves are dizzy.
At present, till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he was seen in the shadow of his father Ram Vilas Paswan. But now he has established himself in Bihar politics. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, his party won five seats as part of NDA in Bihar, including Hajipur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Khagaria and Jamui. Only the strike rate of LJP (R) in the NDA was the percentage.
After this victory, Chirag is not only the son of Ram Vilas Paswan, but he has also become his political stature. Programs like ‘Bahujan Bhima Sankalp Samagam’ held in Nalanda, where crowds of thousands of supporters gathered, is a symbol of the growing popularity and organizational strength of the lamp. The biggest thing is that Chirag has only risen above the leader of Dalits due to his strategy.
Now they are also trying to attract the most backward class (EBC), youth, and other social groups. When he talks about contesting elections on ‘Bihar First, Bihari First’ ideology and all 243 assembly seats in Bihar, it is bound to tremble the soul of NDA parties itself. So what should be understood that their power is also giving rise to the possibility of a third pole in the politics of Bihar?
Chirag’s historical rally in Nitish Kumar’s area
There is such a huge crowd of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) workers and supporters of Chirag Paswan at the ‘Bahujan Bhim Sankalp Samagam’ rally held on 29 June 2025 in Rajgir, Nalanda that both NDA and Grand Alliance have been worried about concern. Different claims have been made about how many crowds gathered in this rally. According to the X post of the local unit of a national channel, three lakh people have been claimed to attend the rally. However, many other media institutions have used immense public and historical crowd words.
Obviously, the crowd must have been more. There have also been reports of the crowd being uncontrollable during the rally. Chirag Paswan was sitting on top of his car and greeting the supporters, when excited workers climbed on his car, causing chaos and his car was damaged. A national channel report also said that the security system faced a tough challenge due to the enthusiasm of thousands of workers.
However, it is not right to say anything about how crowded. But a report by Jansatta shows that about one and a half lakh people had gathered in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting held in Siwan in the past, in which the number of people coming from there was also due to the UP border being close. The claim of three lakhs can be exaggerated, but even if it is half of it, it is not less. The presence of a large crowd in the rally and the enthusiasm of the workers must have felt the impact of Chirag Paswan’s political power and his strategy by the opposition and the NDA allies.
How much challenge for grand alliance
In Bihar, Chirag’s father Ram Vilas Paswan tried hard and made a good inroads among the Dalits. But never could he become the common of Dalit castes other than Paswanas. Paswan’s party used to get votes of Dalits, but Congress and RJD also used to participate in it. However, he had complete control over Paswan vote. But in today’s date, the situation is changing due to lack of strong leadership among other Dalit castes and the constant hard work of Chirag Paswan.
Chirag Paswan has made deep inroads in the Dalit community, carrying forward the legacy of his father Ram Vilas Paswan. The huge participation of Dalit youth in his rallies and programs is an indication that they are succeeding in attracting the Dalit community in the state at this time. In ‘Bahujan Bhima Sankalp Samagam’, Chirag has further strengthened the issue of Dalit pride and social justice by keeping Babasaheb Ambedkar’s ideas at the center. It is obvious that if the LJP (R) contests elections from all seats, then the most damage is going to be for RJD.
The Grand Alliance, which includes prominent allies like Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Left parties. The main basis of this alliance has been Yadav, Muslim, and Dalit vote banks. Chirag’s strategy is working towards weakening this basis. If Chirag contests all 243 seats, then a triangular contest can arise in Bihar.
It is obvious that this will result in the distribution of votes which will prove to be harmful for the Grand Alliance. There are many seats in the state where the difference of victory is very modest. In these seats, Chirag’s party can directly benefit the NDA. Chirag’s rebellion in the 2020 assembly elections damaged JDU, but this time his strategy could prove to be more fatal for the grand alliance.
Is Chirag Paswan becoming a threat to NDA
The power display of the lamp is no less challenging for NDA. Chirag’s rebellion in the 2020 assembly elections had caused heavy damage to the NDA, especially Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) (JDU). This time, although Chirag is part of the NDA, his move is not understood. On the one hand, he talks about contesting elections on 243 seats, on the other hand he reads PM Modi’s embroidery in his rallies. Tejashwi Yadav and Congress are on his target. At Nalanda’s rally, all his focus was on the failures of Congress and RJD. But his growing ambition and aggressive strategy is causing tension within the coalition.
Nalanda, which is considered to be the stronghold of Nitish Kumar, is creating an uncomfortable situation for JDU, the power of Charag and the ‘new leadership’ of Chirag. Chirag has indirectly questioned Nitish’s leadership, and his potential ambition for the post of Chief Minister disrespects JDU. In 2020, Chirag’s rebellion consisted of 43 seats of JDU. People are speculating that this time also their strategy is to control Nitish?
Without naming someone, lamp says that obstacles are being created in my way, but I am not going to be disappointed. Partition in my party and earlier efforts to break me by creating rifts in my family have failed to discourage me. I urge the party workers to spread all the 243 assembly constituencies and fight with the same intensity for the NDA victory as Chirag Paswan himself is in the field. Who is the one who tried to create a rift in his family in Chirag’s speech. There is no need to tell this. Regardless of whether the general public is assuming that the lamp of the lamp will be on Nitish Kumar.
Chirag has demanded 25-35 assembly seats. Obviously, it can become a complex issue for NDA. BJP and JDU are the most special parties of alliance. The hunger of both of them is so much that Chirag kept getting so many seats. The BJP itself is trying to contest more seats than last time. Whereas JDU wants to keep its position strong under the leadership of Nitish. In this way, if the demand for lamp is not met, then they may have the option to choose the path of rebellion again. Now it can be difficult to understand whether the internal politics of the BJP is not working in it.
Dissatisfaction of other colleagues:
Other NDA colleagues, such as Jeetan Ram Manjhi of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Hum) and Upendra Kushwaha of Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) have also been supported by the rallies of Chirag. It is a coincidence or experiment that two rallies of Upendra Kushwaha are lying on the days of Chirag Paswan’s rallies. Whose strength can this be demonstrated?
Apart from Kushwaha, Manjhi also claims Dalit and very backward vote bank. Chirag’s strategy is also weakening his political land. Due to this, internal tension within the alliance is increasing. A few days ago, LJP (Ra) was scheduled in the Garh Shahabad area of Jitan Ram Manjhi. Apart from the Mahadalit class, a crowd of Sarvasamaj had also reached in it. Some reports told that Manjhi, who was upset with this, had heard a lot of a lot to Chirag in panic.
