Chaitra navratri 2025: Today, on the second day of Chaitra Navratri, the Brahmacharini form of Durga Maa is being worshiped. Mother Brahmacharini is considered the goddess of knowledge, penance and disinterest. Due to harsh practice and being absorbed in Brahma, they have been called Brahmacharini. Their worship is very auspicious and fruitful for students and for ascetics. It is believed that for those whose moon is weak, worship of mother Brahmacharini is very favorable.
Worship of Maa Brahmacharini
Wear yellow or white clothes at the time of worshiping mother Brahmacharini. Then, offer white items to the mother to the mother such as Misri, Sugar or Panchamrit. Also, any mantra of knowledge and disinterest can be chanted. But for Maa Brahmacharini, chanting “Om and Namah” is considered to be the best.

Story of Maa Brahmacharini
According to the legend, Goddess Parvati was born as Brahmacharini, the house of Daksha Prajapati. This form of Goddess Parvati was like a saint. Once he pledged to do severe penance to please Lord Shiva. His penance lasted for thousands of years. Even the scorching heat, bitter cold and stormy rain could not break their austerity resolve.
It is said that Goddess Brahmacharini lived only for thousands of years after eating leaves of fruits, flowers and bilva patra. When Lord Shiva does not believe, he also abandoned these things and continued his penance without food and water. Due to the leaves quit eating, one of his names ‘Arpana’ also got.
