Challenge of appointment of Bihar Public Service Commission chairman, Supreme Court expressed displeasure over the petitioner for not keeping the whole fact

The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition challenging the appointment of Manu Bhai Bhai Parmar, Bihar Public Service Commission i.e. BPSC Chairman. It was said in the petition that when Manu Parmar was IAS, Vigilance investigation was sitting against him on charges of corruption. During the hearing, the Supreme Court found that the case was canceled in 2022.

The petition of a lawyer named Brajesh Singh said that the Bihar government ignored the FIR. He was disqualified to the post, but on March 15, 2024, Manu Parmar was appointed to this post. In the hearing held in February this year, a bench headed by Justice PS Narasimha sought a response from the Bihar government. The court also appointed Advocate on Record Vanshja Shukla to assist in the case.

In the hearing held on Friday (July 18, 2025), Amicus Curie informed the court that the state government had refused to allow the trial in the FIR lodged against Manu Parmar in 2017. The case was canceled by the lower court in 2022. The petitioner did not know this fact. The court expressed strong displeasure over this. Initially, the judges talked about imposing a compensation of Rs 10,000, but later dismissed the petition without imposing damages.
