The Waqf Amendment Bill has passed from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Meanwhile, Congress MP Mohammad Javed has moved the Supreme Court against the Waqf Amendment Bill. He has filed a petition in the court challenging the bill. Mohammad Javed is a Congress MP from Kishanganj in Bihar. Mohammad Javed has also been a member of JPC regarding Waqf.
It has been said in the petition that this bill is going to discriminate against the rights of Muslims. Along with this, this amendment bill violates the right to follow the rights and religious activities under Article 25 and 26 under Article 19 of the Constitution, the right to protect the rights of minorities given in Article 29.
It has also been said in the petition that it has been made mandatory to amend the structure of Waqf Board and Central Waqf Parishad to include non-Muslim members in Waqf administrative bodies. Doing so is unfair intervention in religious rule. In contrast, Hindu religious trusts are managed under various state acts and especially by Hindus. Congress MP Javed said in his application that this selective intervention has been done without imposing equal conditions on other religious institutions. Therefore, this is unilateral and arbitrary classification, it is a direct violation of Article 14 and 15.

Short of minority community in Kolkata
On the other hand, members of the minority community staged a protest at the Park Circus Crossing in Kolkata and demanded immediate withdrawal of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill-2025. Hundreds of people took to the streets in protest, in which many minority organizations also participated. The protesters said that this bill is the BJP’s move to divide the country. He has passed a bill in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha due to majority. We oppose this dictatorial approach. This is not only an attempt to seize Muslim properties, but also an attempt to discredit us.
