New Delhi. Yograj Singh, father of former Indian cricketer and great all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, has supported the decision of the selectors of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He justified retaining Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the team for the Champions Trophy 2025 and said that if we drop these two, the entire team will disintegrate. After the poor performance of both of them in the test, critics had said that they should be ousted and new players should be given a chance.
66 year old Yograj Singh believes that the Indian team will not be able to bear the lack of Virat and Rohit at this time. Both the players have faced severe criticism after their poor performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Due to poor form, Rohit had decided to keep himself out of the final test. Yograj said while talking to ANI, “I always believe that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should not be removed from the team. If you dope them your team will fall apart. We may have lost in Australia, but we should not forget that we have beaten them in two series as well,”
India’s 15-member team for the Champions Trophy 2025 includes mostly the same players who played the 2023 ODI World Cup. Mohammad Siraj, who took the most wickets in ODIs for India in the last two years, could not make a place in the team. There are questions over Bumrah’s fitness while Mohammed Shami has not played any international match since the ODI World Cup. Yograj admitted that he was worried before the team was announced that some key players might be left out. He is happy that this did not happen.
Yograj further said, “I was worried that 5-6 people might be out. Shubman or Virat could have been among them, so I think it is a good decision. I would like to congratulate the think tank and the selectors along with the board. I appreciate these people,”
