Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan has decided to include injured Sam Ayub in the team for the ICC Champions Trophy.

New Delhi. Pakistan’s selectors have decided to include Sam Ayub in the team for the ICC Champions Trophy. Opener Sam Ayub is currently in London for treatment. He is recovering from a right ankle injury. The selectors hope that Sam Ayub will be fit in time. The Champions Trophy is to be played from 19 February.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet announced its team for Champions Trophy 2025. It is believed that the selectors have chosen a temporary team. The team will include prominent players like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan. Saimay Ayub is also included in these. A provisional team is yet to be announced for the Champions Trophy, changes in which can be made till 13th February.
Sam Ayub is currently in London. He is under the supervision of two leading orthopedic surgeons. Team assistant coach Azhar Mahmood and team physio were in London with Sam, but now they have returned to Pakistan. Both of them are helping the team prepare for the Test match against West Indies in Multan. It is believed that Sam Ayub may also return to Lahore next week.
Sam Ayub had scored two centuries in the three-match ODI series in South Africa. After this performance, the selectors have started considering Sam important for the team and they want to wait for him to become fit. Sam not only knows how to play long innings but also scores runs quickly.
