The Chandigarh police arrested 4 accused in the murder of 22 -year -old student Aditya Thakur in a violent fight during the concert of Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma at South Campus of Punjab University (PU). However, three to four other accused are still absconding, whose search is on.
According to the police, the incident took place during the concert of Masoom Sharma. The arrested accused is a student of CGC Landra of Lavish Mohali, while Uday and Raghav are students of Khalsa College in Sector-26, Chandigarh. No accused is a student of PU. All are residents of Manimajra.
It is being told that the accused came to see the show. Some accused were standing on chairs and making videos, when the chair fell due to push. There was a debate on both sides about this, which was stopped by the bouncers. But Aditya was attacked while crossing the backstage ground after the show was over.
Aditya Thakur was a second year student of Computer Science Engineering at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET). He was seriously injured by a knife by the attackers. He was immediately taken to PGIMER, but died on Saturday.
Let me tell you that in a video viral viral on social media, Aditya appeared lying on the ground soaked in blood, a knife was stabbed in his thigh.
The Chandigarh police issued a statement saying, “The police have achieved great success by arresting the four accused (Lavish, Uday, Sahil and Raghav) involved in the murder of UIET student Aditya Thakur.”
The Crime Branch has handed over the four to the Sector-11 police station. Police said that raids are going on to nab the other absconding accused.
After the incident, the PU administration has devised a strategy to hand over the security of the campus to the police. This incident has raised questions on the security system in the university.
