A big step has been taken towards making Chandigarh internationally and technology hubs internationally. Chandigarh administration has sent a proposal to the Central Government to create a SIFT City in Industrial Area Phase-3 (Chandigarh International Finance Tech City)

The administration has appointed a consultant for this project. According to Industry Secretary Nishant Kumar Yadav, the target is to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) by 30 November, so that it can be announced in the upcoming budget.
IT and financial companies will get invitation
After the completion of this project, IT and financial companies from India and abroad will be invited to invest. Officials believe that this will create large -scale employment opportunities and will make Chandigarh a financial and technology hub of global level.
According to the administration, the Industrial Area Phase-2 and Phase-3 have quite empty land. Especially in Phase-3, 153 acres of land is almost completely empty, which will be developed for SIFT City.
Chandigarh Administrator Gulabchand Kataria said that the Gujarat model will be resorted to to take the city forward. He admitted that Chandigarh has lagged behind this area in the past years, so now it needs to be pushed forward.
