The family of 23 -year -old engineering student Navneet Singh, resident of Gangth, Noorpur in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, changed personal grief into public welfare and gave a new life to three people by donating them. Navneet’s heart transplant to RML Hospital in New Delhi

Navneet was seriously injured on 3 July 2025 due to falling from a roof and was brought to PGI Chandigarh, where he was declared brain dead on 11 July. In this difficult time, his father Janak Singh took a courageous decision and decided to donate the son’s organ, which gave three families hope and new life.
Decision on heart
Janak Singh said, “The decision to donate the son’s organ was the most difficult decision of our life, but it is satisfied to know that three people got new life from his limbs. Our son’s legacy will now live as the life of these people.” Navneet’s mother Anju, sister Pooja Devi and Dadi Satya Devi also supported in this decision.
The PGI team successfully removed Navneet’s heart, kidney and pancreas. This organ was sent to RML Delhi when no suitable patient for heart in PGI. For this, the process of transplant through the Notto was carried forward with the help of Rotto North.

Heart sent to Delhi by flight
Arrangements were made rapidly to give heart to a 26 -year -old patient in Delhi. Hart was sent to Delhi by IndiGo flight at 5:45 am, for which a green corridor was built with the help of Chandigarh Police, Mohali Police, CISF and Airport Authority.
PGI Medical Superintendent and Rotto North Nodal Officer Prof. Vipin Kaushal said, “In cases like heart transplant, every minute is valuable. With the coordination of all agencies, the limbs reached the airport on time and reached the patient safely, which could save his life.”
Transplant of kidney-pancreas in the same patient in PGI
Pro. The PGI’s Reenal Transplant Department led by Ashish Sharma successfully transplanted the kidney and pancreas in a patient. This was PGI’s 63rd pancreas transplant, the highest number in India. This operation is a major achievement towards curing the patient with type-1 diabetes.
The second kidney was given to another patient, who had been on dialysis for a long time and was struggling with the end-stage reneel spreader.
