The doors of Kedarnath and Badrinath will open on May 2 and May 4
The doors of Gangotri temple were opened at 10:30 am and the doors of Yamunotri temple at 11:55 pm were opened with traditional methods. The committees overseeing the temples gave this information. The doors of the other two Dham Kedarnath and Badrinath will open on May 2 and May 4. The four dhams remain closed for six months during winter.
Strong security arrangements
This time the government has made strict arrangements for the safety of devotees. Around 6,000 policemen, 17 PACs (Provincial Armed Constable) companies and 10 paramilitary forces have been deployed on the travel routes. Apart from this, SDRF personnel have been deployed in areas with more than 65 accidents.
60 lakh devotees expected to arrive
According to officials, so far more than 22 lakh devotees from India and abroad have registered for the yatra. Harish Gaur, media in-charge of Badrinath-Kedarnath temple committee, said that this time the number of passengers can reach 60 lakhs, which will be a new record.
Last year, 48 lakh devotees traveled to Chardham, although the yatra was disrupted for two weeks due to Kedarnath walking route due to heavy rains.
