After the photo of Deputy CM Udhayanidhi and the accused surfaced together, opposition parties have demanded his resignation.
The accused has been arrested in the case of rape of an engineering student of Anna University in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. BJP state president Annamalai shared a photo of the accused and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin together. He alleged that the accused is the leader of DMK’s student wing.
Annamalai wrote on The police do not investigate existing cases against the accused due to pressure from local DMK leaders and ministers. Because of this he commits crimes again and again. All cases registered against the accused are suppressed.
what is the whole matter On December 23, an engineering student was sitting with her friend in the university campus. Then the accused reached there and raped the girl. When the student complained to the police, the police took the case lightly and did not take any action.
A case was registered when the victim lodged a complaint at the Kotturpuram women’s police station. When the case surfaced on social media, the police arrested 37-year-old accused Gnanashekaran.

When the police checked the crime record of the accused, they found out that a case of raping a girl was also registered against Gnanashekaran in 2011. Apart from this, 15 criminal cases including robbery are registered against him. Police suspect that the accused may have objectionable videos of many other people in his mobile, which are being investigated.
CCTV installed in the university After the incident the university management also came into action. Officials said that CCTV cameras have been installed in the campus and security officers have been appointed. The University’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is also investigating.
