Uttar Pradesh Anti -Terrorism Squad (ATS) has declined his codewords in the interrogation of Jamaluddin alias Chhangur Baba, the kingpin of illegal conversion racket. Investigation revealed that Chhangur used codewords in a conversation with his colleagues. In these codewords, girls were called ‘project’, while conversion was called ‘clay turning out’ and brain wash ‘kajal’.
Apart from this, it was said to have ‘Didar’ to introduce Baba. After promising nikah in Chhangur’s codewords, the conditions of conversion and starting a new life were told. Girls and youth were targeted by showing financial greed and dream of sending them abroad.
Some youth were given free education in Islamic educational institutions and temptation of jobs abroad. They were also wooed by citing contacts of Nepal and Gulf countries.
Jamaluddin alias Chhangur Baba created a large network that was operating from the premises of Chand Auliya Dargah in Balrampur, where he regularly held large meetings, including both Indian and foreign citizens.
Sources claimed that Chhangur promoted Islam by publishing a book called ‘Shijra-e-Taiba’ in his religious discourses, while people of other religions, especially Hindus, Scheduled Castes and Economically disadvantaged people, forced people to convert them systematically.
Sources said that to find out the income from the crime, the ED has written a letter to ATS, Balrampur district officials and some banks asking for information about the movable and immovable properties, accounts and finances of Jalaluddin, his family and its people.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the activities of the accused Jalaluddin are not only against the society but also against the nation.
