In a village in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, Naxalites killed two people on suspicion of being a police informer, one of whom was his former colleague. He said that the incident took place on Monday night in Bugdicheru village of Tarram police station area.
The police officer said that a group of unidentified Naxalites entered the village and pulled Karam Raju (32) and Madavi Munna (27) out of their homes. After this, he strangled him with sharp weapons, causing him to die on the spot.
The villagers informed the police about this incident. After giving information, a team of police reached the spot in the morning and sent the bodies for postmortem. He said that a papers have been issued by the Maoists’ Jagragunda Area Committee at the scene, in which both the dead have been accused of working as police informers.
He told that Raju was once an active Naxalite, who later surrendered and was living a normal life in the village. Investigation has revealed that Naxalites had attacked Munna before accusing him of working as a police informer.
The police officer said that Munna’s elder brother was murdered by Naxalites in Potali village of neighboring Dantewada district a few years ago. In the last one year, Maoists have suffered heavy losses in their rank and file and senior members in anti -Naxal operations conducted by security forces.
According to the police, after the establishment of new security camps in their main areas, they have also left their control areas. He said that Maoists are taking out their frustration on innocent tribal villagers and are targeting them by accusing them of being a traitor and police informer.
On January 26, Naxalites killed a 41 -year -old man in Bhairamgarh area of Bijapur, accusing him of leaking information about the banned CPI (Maoist). On January 16, Naxalites killed a 48 -year -old man on suspicion of being a police informer in Mirtur area of Bijapur.
According to the police, 68 civilians were killed in separate incidents of Naxalite violence in Bastar region, including Bijapur last year. So far this year, 50 Naxalites have been killed by security forces in different encounters in the state. Police said that last year, 219 Naxalites were killed by security forces in Chhattisgarh.
