Chhattisgarh liquor scam: The Special Court of Enforcement Directorate (ED) has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former minister Kabasi Lakhma in the case related to the liquor scam in Chhattisgarh. His bail plea was heard in the special court of ED on Tuesday (04 February). At the same time, on Wednesday (05 February), the court dismissed the petition while giving the verdict.
On January 21, the court sent Kabasi Lakhma to judicial custody. Now the ED court extended his judicial custody for 14 days. The next hearing in this case will be held on 18 February. Investigation is going on in the liquor scam, and the ED is investigating the case deeply.

What did Kavasi Lakhma say before the arrest?
Before the arrest, Lakhma said, “I have been called for questioning, so I have come. Our country runs according to the law. If you are called under the law, I will come 25 times, not one.” The same, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Chief Minister Kamal Vishnu Dev Sai targeted Kavasi Lakhma without naming, “There were also illiterate ministers in the previous government. Those who commit scams will not be spared.”
What is Chhattisgarh liquor scam?
The ED started an investigation into the liquor scam worth more than Rs 2,000 crore. Investigation revealed that in the tenure of Bhupesh Baghel government (2019-2022), IAS officer Anil Tuteja, MD of Excise Department A.P. The illegal syndicate of Tripathi and businessman Anwar Dhebar carried out the scam.
How did the scam happen?
Liquor was sold in government liquor shops by planting fake holograms, causing loss of revenue of crores of rupees to the government. An organized racket of illegal liquor sales was run in connivance with private businessmen and government officials.
