The encounter between soldiers and Naxalites continued for the last 72 hours in Bhalu Diggy. By Wednesday, dead bodies of 16 Naxalites were recovered. Jayaram Reddy alias Apparao, carrying a reward of Rs 1 crore, is also among the killed Naxalites. He belonged to the Central Committee Member (CCM) cadre.

Now understand the geographical location of Kulhadi Ghat. Kulhari Ghat is a panchayat spread over 75 kilometers, under which seven villages come. The place of encounter i.e. Bhalu Diggi Tola is situated on the mountain. The total population of this hamlet is only 102. On the way to this village you can encounter a wild animal like leopard at any time. Even the locals of Mainpur do not enter Kulhadi Ghat or any village subordinate to it after sunset.

It was a safe zone for top leaders of Naxalites for 20 years. Kulhari Ghat became a talking point in the national media for the first time 39 years ago. Then on 14 July 1985, Rajiv Gandhi reached this village. This village came into limelight for the second time on Tuesday i.e. 21st January. When the soldiers came out of this village together with the dead bodies of 14 Naxalites.
Naxalite leaders used to control their clans in the three states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from this point. Due to the dense forest and altitude, this area had remained a safe zone for Apparao and his companions for the last 20 years. This is the reason why top cadre leaders have been camping here for a long time.
Villagers descend the mountain only once a week The population that lives on the hills comes down only once a week to get ration and water. These people carry a week’s worth of ration to the mountains in one go with the help of horse and mule. After this they have no connection with the people below and their lives.
There was news of Naxalites’ presence on Sunday night. On Sunday night, the soldiers got information that Apparao along with his protection team had camped near Bhalu Diggi Tola in order to arrange ration and water. However, it rarely happens that a CC level Naxalite leaves his safe zone and camps near a village. Since it was night time, these people might have stopped considering the village as a safe zone.
SOG blocked Odisha’s route After this, without any delay in the night itself, battalions numbered E-30 (jawans of district Gariaband), Cobra 207, CRPF 65 and 211 left for the spot. But the catch was that Odisha is only 5 to 6 km away from Bear Diggi.
If there had been an attack from one side, the Naxalites would have easily moved towards Odisha. In such a situation, Special Operation Group (SOG) soldiers of Odisha were deployed. The Odisha end was blocked by SOG.
As soon as the presence of Naxalites was known, the force left for the forest.

Naxalites were surrounded from three sides Now the last option left for the Naxalites was to go towards Bastar, but from this side they would have to cover a distance of at least 150 kilometers through forests and hills to reach the safe zone, which would take 2 to 3 days.
Keeping in mind that no Naxalite should escape, the force had deployed a team at this end also. In this way, the soldiers surrounded the Naxalites in a triangle shaped ambush.

Naxalites fired first When the team reached Bear Diggi, most of the Naxalites were in civilian clothes. In such a situation, it was difficult to identify, but seeing the soldiers coming closer, two women Naxalites opened fire, in which a CRPF soldier was injured.
After this the soldiers also took position. Started firing rapidly. Both the female Naxalites died on the spot after being shot. Meanwhile, other villagers were shifted to the safe zone.

The soldiers chased the Naxalites out of the forest and killed them in an open area with rocks.
Naxalite leader wanted to build a training base in Kulhadighat mountain Apart from Bear Diggi, there are also Tarjhar and Devdongar Tola on the Kulhadighat mountain. After climbing 15 kilometers towards the west of these two hamlets, the Odisha border is touched. In the south-east, after climbing almost double the distance, the Andhra Pradesh border range is reached.
Naxalites wanted to build a training camp between Tarjhar-Devdongar Tola and Odisha border. Continuous efforts were also being made for this. The big leader had also taken a meeting recently, but the news of his presence reached the police officials with the help of informers. After which the force started working on the action plan.
