The history of military espionage between China and America has been quite old. In the current era, this competition of both world powers has reached cyber espionage, theft of military technology and electronic surveillance. These allegations of America on China have once again proved to be true. A missile engineer born in China has admitted to stealing American missile technology. This technology is associated with detecting nuclear missile launch, tracking ballistic missiles and supersonic missiles.
The US Department of Justice said in a statement that a person from Santa Clara County and a former engineer from a Southern California company have accepted the crime of stealing the trade secret. This technology was used by the US government to detect nuclear missile launch, to monitor ballistic and hypersonic missiles. With the help of this technology, American fighter aircraft used to find missiles and also help them to avoid them.
A 59 -year -old Chenguang Gong is convicted in a case of theft of 59 -year -old Chenguang Gong Trade Secret. The court released him on a $ 1.75 million bond.
Chinese engineer stole the entire technology of American missile
According to the report, Chenguang Gong, who has dual citizenship of China and America, transferred 3600 files from Los Angeles research and development company to his personal storage device last year.
In January 2023, Chenguang Gong’s cheating company hired Gong as an integrated circuit design manager. Here Gong was responsible for the design, development and verification of infrared sensors. From 30 March 2023 to 26 April 2023, Gong transferred thousands of files from his workplace laptop to three private storage devices.
The files that Gong have transferred include many blueprints. These blueprints are associated with space -based infrared sensors to detect nuclear missile launch and monitor ballistic and hypersonic missiles,
American agencies have seized some of these files from the temporary residence at Thause Oux, Gong.
The blueprint of making sensor stole
Gong transferred files with trade secrets related to the sensor of Next Generation, which could detect less visible targets and these sensors could last longer in space.
It also included the blueprint of mechanical assembly to cool and keep the sensor. This information was among the most important trade secrets of the affected company, which cost hundreds of million dollars. Many of these files had marks like “proprightry,” “official use only,” and “export controlled”.
Talent Hunt Search program connected to Chinese companies
Law enforcement came to know that from 2014 to 2022, Gong applied for ‘talent programs’ run by the Chinese government while working in many big technology companies of America.
These programs identify experts and use their advance technical information to increase China’s economy and military capabilities. In 2014, while working in an American IT company in Dallas, Gong sent a business proposal to a high-tech research institute in China, placing to create a high-demonstration analog-to-digital converter.
In September 2020, in another talent program application, Gong proposed to develop a “low light/night vision” sensor for military night vision glasses and civil use. The proposal included a video which had a model number of sensors developed by Gong’s company from 2015-2019.
US District Judge John F. Walter has fixed the date of September 29 for sentencing in this case, after which Gong can be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in jail.
