Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly criticized Maharashtra Minister Nitish Rane’s statement in which he called Kerala ‘mini Pakistan’. The Chief Minister said that Nitish Rane’s remarks are highly inflammatory and condemnable.
Pinarayi Vijayan said in a statement that the Maharashtra minister’s comments have exposed the Sangh Parivar’s basic approach towards Kerala. He said that the Sangh Parivar believes that they can isolate a place by running hate campaigns on which it is difficult for them to have any influence and this statement is a part of that.
Pinarayi Vijayan said that ministers who make hate statements are not entitled to continue in their posts. He said, ‘It is surprising that the leadership of the country’s ruling party has not yet reacted to the minister’s action, which is tantamount to insulting the country’s Constitution.’
Later, Chief Minister Vijayan, in a post on social media platform X, termed the Maharashtra Minister’s remarks as extremely condemnable. CM Vijayan said, ‘We strongly condemn this despicable attack on Kerala and call on all democratic and secular forces to unite against the disgusting propaganda of the Sangh Parivar.’
Nitish Rane had termed Kerala as mini Pakistan and, referring to the election victory of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, had claimed that all terrorists vote for the Gandhi family.
After facing criticism from opposition parties for his remarks, Nitish Rane on Monday said Kerala is a part of India and he was only raising the issues of conversion of Hindus and love jihad in the southern state. Congress General Secretary K. C. Venugopal strongly condemned Nitish Rane’s statement on Monday and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi give a statement on the controversial remarks made by the Maharashtra minister.
