In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, the exercise of coalition partners has intensified. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a big step, assuming the demand of National President and Union Minister Anupriya Patel of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). In July 2025, Anupriya Patel wrote a letter to the Chief Minister demanding the removal of Monika Arya, wife of her party’s rebel leader Vijendra Pratap Singh, from the post of Additional Government Advocate (Executive Advocate) and Arvind Buddhist from the post of member of Purvanchal Development Board.

Now the Yogi government has fulfilled his demand. The controversy began when the rebel leader of Apna Dal (S) Vijendra Pratap Singh claimed a break in the party in July in Lucknow. Vijendra had said that he has 9 MLAs with him and soon Apna Dal (S) will be broken. To strengthen this rebellion, he also formed a new organization called ‘Apna Morcha’. Anupriya Patel wrote a letter to Chief Minister Yogi to suppress this rebellion in her party demanding the removal of Vijender Pratap Singh’s wife Monika Arya and Arvind Buddhist from their posts.

When this letter was not taken immediate action, Anupriya’s husband and Apna Dal (S) Vice President Ashish Patel targeted the Yogi government. Ashish had accused the government of promoting the breakdown within the party and said that the government’s inaction is encouraging the rebels. His strong comments were the cause of tension in the alliance. However, now Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has tried to help the allies by accepting Anupriya’s demand. Monica Arya has been removed from the post of Additional Government Advocate. Also, the membership of Arvind Buddhist has also ended automatically due to the absence of membership of members of Purvanchal Development Board.

Political analysts believe that this decision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is part of the strategy to strengthen the national democratic alliance in the state before the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Apna Dal (S) is influential in Uttar Pradesh, especially in some areas of Purvanchal and its support is important for the BJP. Despite Vijendra Pratap Singh’s rebel Tevar and his new front claims, this step of Yogi gives a clear message of support for Anupriya. This development has increased the hope of unity in the alliance, but on Vijendra’s next step, political circles will also remain.
