Karnataka CM post: There has been a ruckus over leadership once again in the ruling Congress party of Karnataka. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D.K. The signs of conflict about who will be the Chief Minister between Shivkumar, now are clearly visible. Although it is not directly between Siddaramaiah and DKS, but D.K. The voice of making Shivkumar the Chief Minister is intensifying.
In view of the notes of dissatisfaction in the party, the high command has taken the situation seriously and sent party general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala to Bengaluru and entrusted the responsibility of damage control. Surjewala is currently meeting the MLAs one by one and this sequence may continue for a few days to come.
This movement is not like this in the party. Recently senior MLA BR. About half a dozen MLAs, including Patil and Raju Kagi, have made serious allegations against the Siddaramaiah government. He said that there is corruption in the functioning of the government and funds have been stopped for the development works of their areas. BR among those who show rebellion openly. Patil and Raju Kage are at the forefront. Surjewala had first met Patil, after which his attitude was a bit soft and he said that what he had to say, has told the party leadership, now the high command has to decide.
Here DK Shivkumar’s camp is trying to take political advantage of this dissatisfaction. Iqbal Hussain, who is considered to be an MLA from Ramnagar and close to Shivkumar, claimed that more than 100 MLAs want DK Shivkumar to become the Chief Minister. However, only a few MLAs are openly supporting the leadership change.
At present, Siddaramaiah’s supporters are more in terms of numbers. Despite this, the DK camp is expected, because the government’s two and a half year term is being completed in November 2025. It is claimed that when Siddaramaiah was made the Chief Minister in May 2023, Sonia Gandhi promised Shivkumar to be made CM after two and a half years, but the Siddaramaiah faction says that no such written or official assurance was given. Many MLAs are avoiding saying anything on camera.
NA Harris said, “The high command has to decide on CM Change.” On the other hand, Randeep Surjewala dismissed all the speculation and made it clear that these meetings focus on the feedback of MLAs and guarantee, not the leadership change.
DK Shivkumar also clarified his point that I do not want any MLA recommendation. Now the time is over, we have to focus on 2028. There is no factionalism in the Congress, there is only one group led by Mallikarjun Kharge. Action will be taken against those who speak out of the party line.
Risk for the party to make Shivkumar the Chief Minister
Political analysts believe that in view of the upcoming elections in a state like Bihar, the Congress does not want to take any such risk, which will make the backward class angry. In such a situation, removing Siddaramaiah coming from backward classes and making Shivkumar of Forward Cast the Chief Minister can be risky for the party.
On the other hand, Iqbal Hussain is still adopting a rebellious attitude. Even after meeting Surjewala, he did not change his stand. He said, ‘We want change and will keep DK Shivkumar as Chief Minister. If the party does not like my opinion, then suspend me, but I will not sit silent.
Bihar elections will be decided
