A new turn has come to light in the ongoing controversy over alleged rigging in the voter list of Karnataka. The Karnataka State Election Commission gave a formal reply to the letter of H. Nagesh, who was a Congress candidate from Mahadevpura Assembly of the state on Sunday (August 3, 2025). Nagesh lost the election from this assembly constituency in 2023.

In response to Nagesh’s letter, the State Election Commission said, “We have no record of submission of any documents from H. Nagesh regarding fake voters in the voter list of Mahadevpura constituency in April 2023.”

In his letter written on 31 July, Nagesh sought a copy of a document submitted from the Election Commission last year, which had a list of alleged fake voters in 174-Mahadevpura assembly constituency. Election Commission responded to Congress leader’s claim

However, the Election Commission replied, saying, “There is no such document in its record and H. Nagesh had not filed any petition or appeal to challenge the voter list of 2023 under the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and 1951.”

The letter issued by the Election Commission said, “The Commission has no record of any letter related to the voter list during April 2023.” On behalf of the State Election Commission, Congress candidate H.
