Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that this is a bill invading the basic spirit of the Constitution. He said, “Today, the government is eyeing the land of a particular society, tomorrow they will look at the land of other minorities of the society. Amendment is needed. I do not say that there should be amendment. Amendment should be such that the bill should be strengthened. Their amendments will increase problems and disputes. They want that cases will run in every corner of the country.

He further said, “They want to break the atmosphere of brotherhood in the country. The boards can make some rules with the permission of the state government. They want to remove it completely. The state government is trying to end the power. The state government has the power to make the rules. The state government can make rules in favor of the survey commissioner. You all want to remove and say that these are amendments.”
