MP Shashi Tharoor got relief from the Supreme Court for the comment of ‘Bachchau on Shivling’ regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The court said on Friday- The ban on the ongoing defamation action against Tharoor has been carried forward. The hearing has been postponed till 15 September.

Comment was made at a program in 2018
Tharoor made a comment of ‘Shivalinga on Scorpion’ during an event in 2018. He attended the Literature Festival in Bangalore. The book ‘The Paradoxial Prime Minister’ was discussed.
On the wall of a journalist, he had said- Narendra Modi is like a scorpion sitting on the Shivling for RSS, which cannot be removed by hand nor killed with slippers. If removed by hand, you will cut it badly.
He had said that Modi’s current personality has become a matter of disappointment for his counterparts. Modifism, Modi Plus Hindutva, has also been above the Sangh.
He claimed that a RSS leader compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ‘Bachchau sitting on Shivling’. He said this to an article published in a magazine six years ago.
The Supreme Court had earlier surprised that when this article was printed in 2012, it was not considered defamation. Justice Roy had earlier said that this is a metaphor, they do not understand why it is objecting to it.
