Copyright violation in AI models training, DNPA supported the government’s move – DNPA Welcome Center Initiative to review the complex interaction of ai and copyright law tteca

Amid increasing concerns of AI’s misuse and potential copyright violations, the Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA) has welcomed the central government’s move. The central government has initiated reviews of complex relations of AI and copyright law. DNPA is an organization of many news media institutions, which has welcomed the government’s move.

DNPA said, ‘Digital news publishers’ content without their permission is a violation of copyright using AI training, generative AI application, search assistance and information. The association wants a system that gives the right compensation to the content producers and also recognize their rights in the digital world.

DPIT will take feedback from stakeholders

Any step of the government which is very important for the growth of digital news media in the country. This initiative of the Central Government will be chaired by the DPIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. DPIT will take feedback from all stakeholders on how AI is associated with existing copyright laws.

DNPA has emphasized in its statement that using the content of digital news publishers without their permission and using in AI training and generative AI application is a violation of copyright. The association demands a regulatory framework that ensures compensation for content creators and protects their rights in digital environment.

In creating a balanced and correct system, DNPA wants to work closely with the ministry, which will help the content creators to get the correct compensation as well as to develop AI models.
