4 new variants of Kovid-19 found in India In many states of India, four new variants have been found in the country amidst the increase in the cases of Kovid-19. Dr. Rajiv Bahl, director of ICMR, said that the variants that have been sequential from South and West India are LF.7, XFG, JN.1 and NB.1.8.1 series.

Sequencing is being done by taking samples from other places, so that the new variant can be examined. Cases are not very serious and people should not worry, just be cautious.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also not considered them worrying. However, she has been categorized as a variant kept under surveillance. This variant is visible in the increasing cases of Kovid in other countries of Asia including China.

Spike protein mutations such as A435S, V445H, and T478i of NB.1.8.1 spread rapidly compared to other variants. They do not affect the immunity against Kovid.

Kovid’s JN.1 variant is the most common in India. This variant is found in more than half of the samples in testing. This is followed by cases of BA.2 (26 percent) and Omikron Sabalines (20 percent) variants.

Jn.1 variant Weakens immunity JN.1 is a strain of BA2.86 of Omikron. It was first seen in August 2023. In December 2023, WHO declared it ‘variant of interest’. It has about 30 mutations, which weaken immunity.

According to Johns Hopkins University in America, JN.1 spreads more easily than other variants, but it is not very serious. It remains the most common variant in many parts of the world.

Symptoms of JN.1 variant may live from a few days to weeks. If your symptoms persist for a long time, then you may have a long time to live. This is a condition in which some symptoms of Covid-19 persist even after recovering.
