Of the 30 chief ministers of the country, 12 i.e. 40 percent have announced criminal cases against them. This disclosure has been made in the new report of Election Reform Organizations Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
According to the ADR report, the highest number of 89 cases have been registered against Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. After him, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. There are Stalin, against whom 47 cases are registered. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is at number three, 19 cases are registered against him.
At the same time, 13 cases are registered against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and 5 against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh have reported 4-4 cases, while 2 cases have been registered against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and 1 case against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Many Chief Ministers involved in serious criminal cases
According to the ADR report, 10 Chief Ministers i.e. 33 percent have announced a serious criminal case against them. These include cases of attempt to murder, kidnapping, bribery and criminal intimidation.
How was the report prepared?
The ADR has analyzed the affidavits of all 30 current chief ministers, which they had filed before contesting the last assembly elections. This report has come at a time when the central government is bringing three new bills, under which a provision has been made to remove the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and ministers from the post for being in jail for 30 days on serious criminal charges.
