- Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma will be the new General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command. Will take over today.

1. Fresh formation of National Security Advisory Board; Rahul said- Narendra Modi take action, time should not be wasted
The Central Government re -formed the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB). Former Raw Chief Alok Joshi will be its chairman. The board will also have 6 members. This decision was taken in the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs (CCS) chaired by PM Modi. On the other hand, the Pakistani army has vacated several posts on the international border. Pakistani flags have also been removed from here.
At the same time, Rahul Gandhi said-
I just want to say that the people who did, they will have to suffer wherever they are. And will have to be punished completely. They will have to punish not in a unique way but completely. So that they remember that this cannot be done with India. We have given a clear line that what has happened is not accepted. The entire opposition is giving 100% support. Narendra Modi will have to take action and that too strict. The government should not waste time.

- India issued notice to Airman for Pakistan. That is, no flight of Pakistan will be able to fly in Indian air space till May 23.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high -level meeting at his residence. In this, External Affairs Minister S.K. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi were present. This was the second meeting in the last two days.
- Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting at his residence. Many ministers including Jal Shakti Minister were present in the meeting.
- Military operations of India and Pakistan interacted on the hotline. India warned about the ceasefire being taken by the Pakistani Army on the Line of Control (LOC).
- The Cabinet Committee of Security Affairs (CCS) met at the Prime Minister’s residence. This is the second meeting of CCS, the first meeting took place on 23 April the next day of Pahalgam attack.
- Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Ataullah Tarar claimed late Wednesday night that India could take military action against him in the next 24-36 hours.

2. Center’s decision will be held for the first time after independence in the country, before Bihar elections
Caste census will be done for the first time in the country after independence. The Union Cabinet approved it. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that it will be done with the original census. All the opposition parties including the Congress have been demanding this. Bihar assembly elections are to be held later this year. Rahul Gandhi said, “We support it, but the government will have to tell its deadline.”
Census can begin in September: The census can begin in September. However, it will take a year to complete the process. In such a situation, the final figures of the census will be found in the end of 2026 or in the beginning of 2027. The last census in the country took place in 2011. It is done every 10 years.
