On receiving the news of the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, His Holiness the Dalai Lama sent a condolence message to his wife Gursharan Kaur. In his letter he wrote that I will remember him in my prayers and offer my condolences to you and your family at this sad time.

Dalai Lama wrote in a letter to former PM Manmohan Singh’s wife that your husband was inspired by a strong desire to help others. They contributed significantly to India’s development and prosperity, especially economic growth, which improved the condition of the Indian people. He was also a good friend of the Tibetan people. Concluding his letter, the Dalai Lama wrote that we can celebrate that he lived a truly meaningful life for 92 years, which is an inspiration for all of us.
