There was a huge uproar in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (August 20, 2025) when Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced three controversial bills. During this, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) alleged that BJP leaders Kiren Rijiju and Ravneet Singh Bittu pushed his female MPs. TMC MPs Mithali Bagh and Shatabdi Rai alleged that they were pushed.
Mithali Bagh statement
TMC MP Mithali Bagh said, “While we were opposing the bill, Union Ministers Ravneet Singh Bittu and Kiran Rijiju suddenly attacked me. They pushed me. I am injured.” Bagh said, “I was killed by Kiran Rijiju, Bittu ji killed. He attacked women vigorously. It is a matter of shame. It is a matter of damn.” The BJP has not commented on it yet.
Kalyan Banerjee also accused
TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee also accused BJP MPs. He said- pushed the MP, we torn the bill from inside us, we take responsibility for or not. Bittu pushed our MP, it was also Rijiju.
Bill introduced amidst uproar
This ruckus started in the Lok Sabha when Amit Shah introduced three bills. The opposition called these bills “rigid” and “anti-constitution”. All three bills are-Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill and Union Territory of Governance (Amendment) Bill.
Among these bills, a new legal structure has been proposed to the Prime Minister, Union Minister, Chief Minister and Ministers of States/Union Territories, under which they will have to withdraw from the post if they are in jail for 30 days in serious crime.
Opposition strong opposition
Amid the uproar, opposition MPs tore the bill copies and bounced him towards Amit Shah. Opposition parties MPs, including Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM, Manish Tiwari of Congress and KC Venugopal, protested against the federal structure and constitution, opposing the bill.
Bills sent to JPC
Amit Shah dismissed the criticism of the opposition and said that the bills have not been brought in a hurry. He said that these bills will be sent to the Joint Committee of Parliament (JPC), where MPs of all parties will get a chance to suggest. After this, the proceedings were postponed.
Rijiju attacked opposition
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the opposition of constantly creating a ruckus. He said, “The more you create a ruckus, the more the public will dismiss you. I once again urge to participate in the discussion.”
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Rijiju said, “The opposition has been shouting slogans since the onset of the monsoon session. It was certain that Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla would be honored for the last three days. It is unfortunate that it is unfortunate that the hero of our country who did not even get a chance to honor the flag of India, who has hoisted the flag of India. It is really shameful.”
