Hindi controversy: In the promotional material prepared by the Tamil Nadu government for the budget for 2025-26, the sign of the rupee was replaced with the Tamil letter. Rajti is now in full swing about this matter. The BJP is describing it as disrespect of the National symbol, while the DMK government is presenting this change as the honor of Tamil language.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on the issue that the Tamil Nadu government’s move to remove the money symbol is a sign of dangerous mindset, which weakens the unity of the country. He said that it promotes separatist feelings.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has been accused of doing politics about three-language formulas under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Amit Malviya claimed that despite the public opposition from the DMK government against the policy, the Ministers of Tamil Nadu had urged the Center to release funds under the overall education scheme, which is associated with the implementation of educational reforms.
Tamil Nadu BJP leader CR Kesavan also questioned the DMK’s alleged inconsistency and wrote on X, “The DMK government in August 2024, why did M. Karunanidhi’s centenary memorial coin with our national currency symbol from the Union Defense Minister in August 2024 and why did Chief Minister Stalin personally accept it?
Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai targeted the Minister MK Stalin and called it an insult to the national symbol. Taking a dig at the Tamil Nadu government, he said, “The Symbal of the rupee has been removed in the 2025-26 budget of the Tamil Nadu government, which was designed by a Tamil person and adopted by the whole of India.” This symbol was designed by Uday Kumar, who is the son of a former DMK MLA.
