What was the super over controversy?

More drama and a strange incident occurred in the super over, causing controversy. For the super over, India handed over the ball to Arshdeep Singh, who dismissed Kusal Perera on the very first ball. On the fourth ball, when Sri Lanka had only two runs on the board, Dasun Shanaka missed the ball which went directly into the hands of wicketkeeper Sanju Samson. The Sri Lankan batsman ran, while Arshdeep Singh appealed for the catch out. The umpire raised the finger, obviously for the age. The replay showed that the bat had no contact.

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson threw the ball directly on stumps and run out. But the Sri Lankan players immediately appealed, claiming that the ball should have been dead after being given out for the catch out. The umpire accepted it and the Sri Lankan batsmen got another chance. On this decision, all the players of the Indian team reached Umpayar. Captain Suryakumar Yadav was accompanied by Harshit Rana, wicketkeeper Sanju Samson and Varun Chakraborty. After discussing with the field umpire, everyone returned to fielding.
