Delhi CM oath: The swearing -in ceremony of the new Chief Minister will be held today at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. The ceremony will include the Chief Minister and other dignitaries of many states including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Preparations for the ceremony have been going on for the past several days and special arrangements have been made to make it grand.

Keeping in mind the swearing -in ceremony, Delhi Police has implemented traffic restrictions and diversion on several major routes. Traffic has been diverted in areas around Rajghat, Delhi Gate, ITO, Ajmeri Gate, Ranjit Singh Flyover, Bhubhuti Marg, DDU Marg and Jhandewalan. The movement of vehicles on BS Z Marg, JLN Marg, Aruna Asaf Ali Road and other major roads can be affected from 7 am to 4 pm.

Special guidelines for those going to railway station

The police have advised citizens to use public transport instead of private vehicles. Apart from this, it has been requested to use only the prescribed parking areas and not to stand roadside vehicles. Passengers going to New Delhi railway station have been advised to enter from Paharganj, while Ajmeri has been asked to avoid going towards the gate.

Meteorological Department released rain alert

Delhi has been receiving light rain since night and the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of being cloudy throughout the day. However, the weather can improve by noon. Since the swearing -in ceremony is being held in the open ground, the event may be affected by the rain.

Tight security arrangements

Security has been tightened in view of the swearing -in ceremony. More than 25,000 security personnel have been deployed in different areas of Delhi. 15 companies of paramilitary forces are engaged in security monitoring. More than 5,000 policemen have been deployed in and around Ramlila Maidan. The police have identified more than 200 sensitive points where tight security arrangements have been made.

Hoardings and banners across the city

The BJP has taken special initiative to connect this event with the public. Large hoardings and banners have been installed across the city within a radius of 10-15 km, in which the people of Delhi have been invited to the ceremony. Metro stations, markets, religious places and major posters have also been installed in major public places, in which the message of ‘developed Delhi oath ceremony’ has been given.

Swearing -in ceremony timeline

11:00 pm: The arrival of guests will begin.
12:10 pm: The nominees and ministers will reach the venue, where the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration Department will welcome him.
12:20 pm: Union Home Minister, Chief Minister of different states, Deputy Chief Minister and Union Ministers will arrive.
12:25 pm: The Prime Minister will reach the venue where the Union Home Minister and the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Delhi will welcome him.
12:29 pm: Prime Minister will sit on stage.
12:30 pm: Police band will play the tune of the national anthem.
12:31 pm: LG’s Secretary will take permission for the official start of the swearing -in ceremony. After this, the Chief Secretary will request LG to administer an oath by reading the notification issued by the Union Home Ministry regarding the appointment of Chief Minister and ministers.
12:35 pm: LG will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new Chief Minister of Delhi.
12:45 pm: On behalf of LG, other members of the Council of Ministers will be administered the oath.
12:58 pm: LG’s secretary will ask for permission to terminate the function.
12:59 pm: The swearing -in ceremony with the national anthem will end.
01:00 pm: The Prime Minister and other guests will leave from the venue.
