BJP MLA Rekha Gupta will take oath of Chief Minister at Ramlila Maidan on 20 February. In the meeting of the BJP Legislature Party on Wednesday, he was elected the leader of the House in the Delhi Assembly. BJP leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad, OP Dhankhar, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and others along with Rekha Gupta (50) met Lt. Governor VK Saxena and claimed to form the government. He and his cabinet minister will take oath of office at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday.
She will be the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi after Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dixit and Atishi. On taking oath, she will be the second current woman Chief Minister of the country along with Mamata Banerjee. Also, she will currently be the only female Chief Minister in BJP ruled states. There has been no official statement from the party about whether the Deputy Chief Minister will be in the BJP government. Party sources said that all communities will be represented in the Delhi cabinet.
Around 50,000 people, including Prime Minister Modi, his cabinet colleagues and Chief Ministers of NDA -ruled states, will attend his swearing -in ceremony on Thursday. More than 25,000 security personnel will be deployed in the central, north and new Delhi areas of the city for this ceremony.
CM face seal 11 days after the results
All 48 newly elected BJP MLAs attended the meeting of the legislative party held in the presence of Central Supervisors Ravi Shankar Prasad and OP Dhankhar on Wednesday. The names of Rekha Gupta were proposed by senior party leaders Pravesh Verma, Vijendra Gupta and Satish Upadhyay. This announcement was made 11 days after the results of the Delhi Assembly elections were declared on 8 February. Soon after the announcement, Rekha Gupta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that she will work with full honesty, loyalty and dedication for the welfare, empowerment and overall development of every resident of Delhi.
Winned by about 30 thousand votes
Rekha Gupta defeated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate by about 30 thousand votes from Shalimar Bagh seat in the recently concluded assembly elections. She has been a three -time councilor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and has a deep connection with the RSS. Since this victory, his name was being considered to be at the forefront of the race for the post of Chief Minister.

Rekha Gupta won this election by defeating Aam Aadmi Party’s Bandana Kumari by 29,595 votes. Rekha Gupta has been a councilor from Shalimar Bagh. She was elected councilor for the third time from here. She has already handled many important responsibilities in MCD (MCD) and has been associated with BJP since the early days of college. He is former General Secretary of Delhi University Students Union and president, member of the party’s national executive and general secretary of the party’s Delhi state unit.
She became the chairman of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) in the year 1996-1997. She was elected for the Delhi Councilor election from North Pitampura (Ward 54) in 2007. She was re -elected from North Pitampura (Ward 54) in 2012 for the Delhi Councilor election.

Rekha Gupta belongs to Haryana
Rekha Gupta, originally from Jind, Haryana, was born in Julana in 1974. His family shifted to Delhi after getting a father’s job in SBI Bank. However, his family still does business in Julana. Rekha Gupta has to visit her home state due to belonging to Haryana adjacent to Delhi. Before becoming an MLA, Rekha Gupta has also held important responsibility at the organization level in BJP. She is the national vice president of the BJP Mahila Morcha and is holding the post of General Secretary in Delhi BJP.
