It will be inaugurated at 10 am in the presence of more than 400 party leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi. Its foundation stone was laid by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi in 2009. It has been completed after 15 years.

Entry point changed for the second time because of BJP The main entrance of the new Congress office is not from the front but from the back door. The reason for this is BJP. Actually, the front entrance of the office is on Deendayal Upadhyay Marg. In such a situation, this name would have appeared on the address, hence instead of the front entrance, the party chose the backdoor entry, which opens on Kotla Road.

Burma House became Congress’s lucky charm 24, Akbar Road was once the home of the Chief of the Indian Air Force. Apart from this, it was also the office of the Political Surveillance Wing of the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Before that this bungalow was known as Burma House.

This name was given to the bungalow by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Actually, Myanmar’s Ambassador to India Dr. Khin Kai lived in this bungalow. She was the mother of Aung San Suu Kyi, known as the Iron Lady of Myanmar, and lived in this bungalow with Aung for about 15 years.

When Indira chose 24, Akbar Road as the Congress headquarters, the party was facing a lot of difficulties. But this office proved to be very lucky for both Congress and Indira.

In the mid-term elections of 1980, Congress returned to power with an overwhelming majority. This office witnessed four Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh.

Apart from this, the allotment of 26 Akbar Road (Congress Seva Dal Office), 5-Raisina Road (Youth Congress Office) and C-II/109 Chanakyapuri (allotted to Sonia Gandhi’s aide Vincent George) was also cancelled.

Supreme Court had given instructions to change the office The Supreme Court had directed all the parties to change their offices due to overcrowding in Lutyens Zone. After this, BJP first established its office on Deendayal Upadhyay Marg in 2018.
