A shocking case has come to light in New Friends Colony area of Delhi. Here, five youths, including a minor, have been arrested by the police on charges of snatching and theft. It is alleged that all these people were carrying out the incident with the intention of arranging money to celebrate their friend’s birthday. The police have registered a case against them under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
A police officer said that all the accused are being questioned in custody. The arrested accused have been identified as Dev alias Deepak (28), Prince Kumar (18), Manav (19), Deepak (18) and a minor. During interrogation, the accused said that they did not have money to celebrate Deepak’s birthday. All are unemployed. In such a situation, he considered the robbery as an easy way and planned the crime.
For the last few days, the police were receiving frequent complaints of snatching and theft in the area. In this episode, a PCR call came at around 11.30 pm on July 5. Complainant Shankar Rai told the police that some youths attacked him near the Royce Hotel on CV Raman Marg. His mobile phone and bag escaped by snatching it. On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case and started investigation.
CCTV footage in and around the scene was searched, after which the suspects were identified. Along with this, when the investigation was done through the local intelligence network, the police recovered the mobile phone of the complainant with an accused. During interrogation, he also told the names of the rest of his colleagues. According to police sources, Dev alias Deepak works as a watchman. He has no criminal record.
Prince has only studied up to class 5, while Manav left studies after 12th. Deepak is considered to be the mastermind of this entire gang, who prepared a plan for the incident and included his companions. At present, all the accused have been arrested. He is being interrogated intense. Police is also trying to find out whether they are associated with any other criminal gang or not?
