Delhi Police has arrested two miscreants after the encounter. Both of them are accused of looting and attacking two American citizens in a park with a knife. In the early hours of Sunday, both the accused were shot in the right leg. He has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. After recovering, the police will interrogate them in custody.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Aishwarya Sharma said that the incident took place on the night of 25-26 June at Aastha Kunj Park in South-East Delhi. The American citizen and his female friend were walking in the park. At the same time, an accused attacked the American youth with a knife and escaped after robbing his mobile and other belongings. The victim was injured in this attack.
On receiving information from the police, the injured youth was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment after surgery. Based on the statement of the female friend, a case was registered at Amar Colony police station. After this, a special team was formed for investigation. Police searched footage of CCTV cameras installed around Aastha Kunj Park, Garhi, Kalkaji and Nehru Place.

Along with this, the accused were identified with the help of local informers. In the early hours of Sunday, the police received information about the activities of the accused, after which a trap was laid at the entry and exit gate of the park. At around 5:10 am on Sunday morning, both the accused, Jatin alias Mowgli and Akshay, were seen coming from the ISKCON temple. The police asked them to surrender.
Police action after firing of miscreants
The miscreants started firing at the police with a pistol instead of surrendering. In retaliation, the police fired on their feet and fired on their feet, causing them to fall injured. Three rounds of firing were done by the miscreants. One bullet collided with an inspector’s bulletproof jacket, while the other was on the jacket of the head constable. No policeman was injured.
Such is the criminal history of both the accused
The police immediately rushed both the miscreants to AIIMS Trauma Center, where they are undergoing treatment. A state -of -the -art pistol and bullets have been recovered from the accused. The police have also recovered the robbed mobile phone during the incident. The first accused has been identified as Jatin alias Mowgli (20 years), who is a resident of Uttam Nagar.
Both classmates, drug addiction made criminals
Two cases of assault against Jatin are already registered. The second accused is Akshay Bathni (20 years) from Amritpuri, Garhi, which has no criminal history. According to the police, both have been classmates in the school. Police investigation has revealed that both of them had given up studies after fifth grade and got into a bad company and became addicted to alcohol and drugs.
Americans looted after seeing a deserted place
Jatin told the police that on the night of the incident, he saw the American citizen and his female friend roaming in the deserted part of the park and planned to be robbed. He also included his friend Akshay in it. A case has been registered against both the accused under the relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code at Amar Colony police station in Delhi.
