In the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has returned to power after 27 years by winning a stunning victory. The election results came out on 8 February (Saturday), in which the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered defeat. People were also eyeing the result of Timarpur region on the day of counting. Surya Prakash Khatri of Bharatiya Janata Party won the Timarpur seat. Surya Prakash defeated Surinder Pal Singh (Bittu) of his nearest rival Aam Aadmi Party by 1168 votes. Lokendra Kalyan Singh of the Congress Party stood at number three. The last time the Aam Aadmi Party won from this seat.
This trend remained again due to BJP’s victory
If seen, the Timarpur assembly seat of Delhi has its own importance. The party which wins the Timarpur seat, a government is formed in this union territory. This time too, this trend has been maintained, although the match was very tough. A total of 12 candidates were in the fray from Timarput seat. Sometimes Aam Aadmi Party candidates were ahead, sometimes BJP’s candidate increased the edge. However, after the completion of 17 and the last round, Surya Prakash Khatri was declared victorious.
Please tell that Timarpur is part of the North-East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. Timarpur seat came into existence in the year 1993. Now for the first time after 1993, Timarpur seat has come under the possession of the Bharatiya Janata Party. This seat was the name of the Congress party in 1998, 2003 and 2008. Whereas in the 2013, 2015 and 2020 assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party candidate won this seat.
Rajendra Gupta (BJP) won the 1993 assembly elections. Then he defeated Harishankar Gupta of the Congress Party. Then the Bharatiya Janata Party government was formed. Then in 1998, Jagdish Anand of the Congress party won against BJP’s Raghuvansh Singhal. In 1998, the Congress party formed the government under the leadership of Sheila Dixit in Delhi.
Then in the elections of 2003 and 2008, Surinder Pal Singh (Bittu) won this seat twice on a Congress ticket. On both occasions, the Congress Party government led by Sheila Dixit was formed. At the same time, Harish Khanna of Aam Aadmi Party managed to win the election in the 2013 assembly elections. After that election, Arvind Kejriwal of Aam Aadmi Party became the Chief Minister for the first time with the support of the Congress.

When the Delhi assembly elections were held again in 2015, Pankaj Pushkar of Aam Aadmi Party won the Timarpur seat. The Aam Aadmi Party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, formed the government for the second time. Talking about the 2020 assembly elections, Dilip Pandey achieved success from this seat on Aam Aadmi Party ticket. Then Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi for the third time.

Let us know that voting in all 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections was held on 5 January. The main contest was between the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Aam Aadmi Party and the Indian National Congress. Although the Congress party did not open an account in this election, it caused a lot of damage to the Aam Aadmi Party in many seats.
