Delhi Police has detained seven illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, including a minor from East Delhi. Giving this information on Monday, an official said that the process of exile of Bangladeshi citizens caught has been started.

According to the police, those detained include Dilawar Khan (48), Beauty Begum (39), Rafiqul (43), Tauheed (20), Mohammad Azhar (28), Zakir Malik (40) and a 15 -year -old minor girl, who allegedly entered India illegally via the river.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania told PTI that he (Bangladeshi) was living at various places in Delhi and Ghaziabad. Now the process of exile has been started with the help of Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO).

On 16 March, on the basis of a secret information, the police detained a person named Dilawar Khan from Krishna Nagar area. In the initial interrogation, he claimed to be a resident of West Bengal, but continued interrogation and verification revealed that he is a Bangladeshi citizen of Khulna district of Bangladesh.

Subsequently, the police identified six more Bangladeshi citizens living illegally in various parts of Delhi-NCR. He said that raids were conducted in Laxmi Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Seemapuri and Shalimar Gardens of Ghaziabad, after which he was detained. He said that further investigation is going on.

The ongoing campaign against illegal migrants was launched last December. After a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister and other leaders in February, the police has intensified its efforts.
